Vacation 1 2006 - Taunton

Hanging out with my brother in Taunton, Somerset on my first vacation for 2006. We only get 6 weeks leave a year where I work, but I can spread them out pretty much however I want to.

Taunton [proper noun]: small quiet town, friendly people; simple place.

All the clothes shops I need. When I arrived I realized just how necessary this holiday was, I was really burnt out from work. Must manage my work schedule better when I get back.

Visited Hartland Quay with my brother and his girlfriend to see the sea and walk the cliffs. It was a different experience for me, great fun but my feet ached a lot. Beautiful, awesome views, no picture can do them justice... so I'm not posting any. Precipices, scary heights and dodgy pathways but no one was hurt. Nice chilling out at a seaside pub after. We also went to Jongleurs in Bristol, they've got some pretty good comedy acts there.

Tch. There was this Canadian comedian who kept sucking up to the locals, "England is great" this and "Brits are great" that... maybe he felt he had to soften up the crowd to get them to laugh. I had to drink more beer so the bs would go down smoothly. Stand-up must be really hard to do if it doesn't come naturally to you.

We also went jogging down the paths of picturesque Creech St. Michael. I ran 3.8 miles and only stopped once... nice. I had aches and funny twinges in my right hip and knee the next day but it was great fun, great exercise.

Then we visited Bath just before I left. Strolled around town, ate lots of ice cream, watched folks hot-air ballooning and joined a "Bizarre Bath Comedy Walk" in the evening, which was alright.

I'll tell you about the drama I experienced with my British Airways flight booking later.
